When you think of a community what comes to your mind? Did you think of your school community, your local community or maybe even your sports community? Communities are groups of people with common interests or a place where people are brought together. For your students learning about communities is important and helps them see the part they play in supporting and interacting with this special group.
Teaching about communities can give children a sense of belonging to a special place. Children’s community connections might include extended family and friends, neighbors and people who help work and provide goods and services for us.
