It is time for “May Flowers”. Welcome May! May brings the reminder that for most things are winding down in the classroom, the school year is about to end and holding student attention can be a true challenge!! Below we will take a look at some of my favorite resources for teaching during the month of May. I am sharing bundles as often as I can so you can SAVE 20% all year long. Also if you click on the cover you will find a listing of each individual resource.
May has some exciting events. One of my favorites is Mother’s Day. Such a terrific day for engaging in activities about MOM which is WOW backwards. May 5th we celebrate Cinco de Mayo. What a wonderful way to compare and contrast or make connections. Finally the end of May we feature Memorial Day. For many this is considered the start of summer but it has a much deeper meaning than that. Each resource is filled with valuable informative text and activities that promote cross curricular teaching.

The May Reading Bundle includes a resource for comprehension, phonics, word searches and mini readers. Each resource focuses on the month of May and even includes wonderful literature suggestions.
The May Writing Bundle has 4 guided writing lessons, a resource for showcasing student writing with page topper crafts, a How to (this month making pizza, flying a kite, catch a fish), and graphic organizers to encourage early writers. Simple crafts with Rainbow Fish and Hungry Caterpillar are wonderful for showcasing student writing.
April Math is not a bundle but you will love this “data collection” resource. The focus is on collecting data, reading data and writing about data.

These three resources are monthly MUSTS for me. May calendar is perfect for daily calendar math. I also love doing a poem a week with students that they read, recite and have fun with. May Math and Literacy activities are perfect for parent helpers, centers, one to one or group review and reinforcement and they all have an May theme.

The Units of Study for May close out the year . . . Ocean Life, Space Patterns and Cycles, A Rainforest Adventure and Writing, Reading and Telling Tales. Each unit features literature suggestions for the guided reading portion of the units. All activities are cross curricular and focus on building vocabulary, knowledge of the subject using informational text, word work, writing and of course literature to support the theme.

Literacy focuses on Lobel, London and Leo Lionni. Amazing Author Studies!
Take the pressure off of YOU and pick up these delightful resources to inspire and build academic growth with each student in your class.
