February Math with Addition Strategies to 20

I feel Fact Fluency in math is similar to Sight Words in reading. These basic strategies can be very helpful in teaching students fact fluency to 20. The strategies are: Doubles, Doubles + 1, Doubles + 2, 10 + number and 9 + number. By learning these strategies students begin to use mental math instead of depending on the number line or grid (and maybe even fingers).

The resource includes: Color and BW number lines to 20 for students needing support. Center matching activity (fact to sum in jar using one of the above strategies). Independent activity page that can be used for practice review or assessment. Doubles Rap and Around the World Game for Fact Practice. Hearts with facts to use for practice (identify the strategy, say the sum). Take a peek below.

Tip: Place a timer in the center as students become more proficient.
