Constructing writing skills in your classroom!

August 9, 2022 No Comments

One of my favorite resources for developing strong writing in the classroom is this resource. It focuses on the types of writing students are responsible for. (lists, letters, narrative, informational, persuasive) As we focus on a specific form of writing I have materials available for developing writing skills. I like to set them up in a specific area.

Each type of writing is accompanied by a poster for identification, cards with specific topics the student might want to write about(love these), a letter to the parents explaining the importance and then graphic organizers and final write pages for showcasing student writing.

Besides these activities there are materials for student editing and a student dictionary If they don’t correct their mistakes they will never form healthy habits.

There are lots of opportunities for practicing, reviewing and constructing writing skills.

I’m Michele a retired educator who loved every minute of being in the classroom and creating an environment where students loved coming and materials were presented that inspired learning. After retirement 5 years ago I knew I wanted to stay connected to the classroom and education. I began pulling my materials together and creating resources for TpT. I hope you will peek at them!! Together my husband and I have raised three amazing sons who now are busy beginning families of their own. To date I only have one grandson but he is such a joy! My husband, miniature dachshund Rubee, and I love being on the water, boating and walking outside. So if you see sunglasses you know where we are!! Together we spend time at our lake house in Michigan and our winter home in Florida. We are creating so many wonderful memories.
