The resource includes an adorable page topper for student writing. Students can decide on the facial expression they wish. Activities all relate to the story and include story elements, sequencing, writing and critical thinking. Students are given opportunities to connect the story to themselves as well.

Have students complete this in small groups.

Google Slides begins with a delightful poem about the First Day of School

Students will write about their first day of school.

Next students are reminded of the story they just heard.

The activity includes them completing somebody, was, but, so, then and the story ended.  RECALL

The next activity includes a little synonym and antonym work.  Using emotions students sort into the appropriate category.

In the story Sarah “got ready” for school.

Students are then asked to share how they get ready for school.

The packet ends with students solving story problems about school.

So you get a little word work, writing, comprehension and math.

Perfect for distance learning or a literacy center on the computer.

If you take a mouse to school, he’ll ask you for your lunch box. When you give him your lunch box, he’ll want a sandwich to go in it.
