Love the word searches. First, they are fun! Second they build vocabulary and spelling skills. Finally they are an activity that develop pattern recognition. All you need is a highlighter then print and go! I use them for morning work, “I done, what can I do now”, or center work. The calendar included helps you to recognize the special day.

These are another favorite of mine. They are easy to make. Print, fold and read. The topics all relate to September. The calendar has the dates on it to help you remember. Each mini book is filled with easy informational text. Students can read by group, read with a partner, read by self. I love to read them together with the class first and have them highlight key vocabulary. They then read with a partner. They can color the pictures. I then have them open the book up and write about the topic. Students can collect them and make a mini library!
