Let’s Create Kindness Goals for February

January 15, 2023 No Comments

February is love. February is hearts. Let’s create a February filled with KINDNESS! Kindness can make the world a happier place for everyone. Happiness can boost feelings of confidence, happiness and optimism. Happiness also encourages others to repeat the kind deeds they’ve experienced themselves which just might contribute to a more positive classroom. Think about how you feel when someone does something kind for you or is kind to you. I know I personally appreciate the deed even if it’s as simple as a few kind words. Let’s spread kindness and hope it becomes a habit!!

This resource is filled with activities to help you spread kindness and teach kindness in your classroom. And I’m being kind to you … 54 pages for just $3.

I like to begin by having the students create these kindness heroes. They are a reminder that we are focusing on kindness. Throughout the month I reward students when I catch them doing something kind. As a whole group or individually have students think…What does kindness look like? (sharing, working together, helping) What does kindness feel like? (good, warm fuzzy) What does kindness sound like? (please, thank you, you’re welcome)

There are two key posters that help you know important things to teach with students. Kindness is respect, helping other, and caring. There are two activities to accompany each one. Then there are the 3 C’s of kindness: Cooperation, Considerate and Compliments. Again activities accompany these. Once students recognize all of these helpful signs of kindness they will begin to notice them in the classroom, on the playground and at home.

For your centers there is word work, paragraph organizers and final write pages for writing. I love these and embed them right into my lessons for these areas. NOTE: I also have two games shown here that are for partners or small groups. They focus on taking turns and listening carefully! Students roll the die and do the math then move.

And we can’t ignore these wonderful stories about sharing kindness. Each has a comprehension activity to follow reading the story and it is related to kindness.

I’m Michele a retired educator who loved every minute of being in the classroom and creating an environment where students loved coming and materials were presented that inspired learning. After retirement 5 years ago I knew I wanted to stay connected to the classroom and education. I began pulling my materials together and creating resources for TpT. I hope you will peek at them!! Together my husband and I have raised three amazing sons who now are busy beginning families of their own. To date I only have one grandson but he is such a joy! My husband, miniature dachshund Rubee, and I love being on the water, boating and walking outside. So if you see sunglasses you know where we are!! Together we spend time at our lake house in Michigan and our winter home in Florida. We are creating so many wonderful memories.
