No “FOOLING” around—there’s so much to LEARN on APRIL FOOL’S DAY!
This engaging packet combines fun and learning with a variety of READINGWRITING, and WORD WORK activities that are perfect for celebrating the day while strengthening important LITERACY SKILLS.

Take a look below at all the wonderful activities included in the resource.

Begin your celebration with a class invitation. The invitation asks students to bring in a joke to tell. Create fun April Fool headbands for students to wear using the included pattern. A morning welcome sheet is also provided and is perfect for a quick pre-assessment or for starting a class discussion about the upcoming day and celebration.

Students can then complete one of two April Fool’s Day class polls, each paired with differentiated data collection sheets. I like to give students small sticky notes to write their names on and place them under their chosen answer on the class poll. This makes it easy to see results and leads to great class discussion.

There is a poem with simple text and a mini book both ideal for guided reading. Each student has their own copy so they can highlight key words to support reading, color pictures and read and reread.

Above are three of the stories included in the resource with comprehension pages that follow. April Foolishness – Focus on recalling important STORY ELEMENTS.
• April Fool! Watch Out at School – Practice SEQUENCING and SUMMARIZING key events.
• Arthur’s April Fool – Explore SENSORY DETAILS and identify the BEGINNING, MIDDLE, and END of the story.
• Down by the Bay – Encourage CREATIVITY with a fun CREATE-YOUR-OWN

Students will enjoy reading a writing a “wacky story” with the support of the graphic organizer. There are also two paragraph organizers for writing a paragraph. These are followed by differentiated final write pages to showcase student writing.

Add these to writing pages or create a darling bulletin board.

There are colorful VOCABULARY CARDS for classroom display. Focus on the “OO” SOUND as in book and fool. Have fun completing a WORD SEARCH activity. Students can make words using the letters from April Fool’s Day. Each activity is ideal for a center, small groups or individual completion.

These bright and colorful interactive slides are designed to be easy for young learners to use, featuring simple click-and-drag activities along with basic typing tasks. Students will enjoy reading a fun April Fool’s Day poem with silly rhyming text, followed by engaging activities such as sorting “trick or not a trick” and making words using the letters in April Fool’s Day.

The presentation concludes with students choosing which trick they like best, leading naturally into class discussion.

This engaging resource brings together laughter, reading, word work, and interactive learning—making it a wonderful way to celebrate April Fool’s Day in your classroom!

I’m Michele a retired educator who loved every minute of being in the classroom and creating an environment where students loved coming and materials were presented that inspired learning. After retirement 5 years ago I knew I wanted to stay connected to the classroom and education. I began pulling my materials together and creating resources for TpT. I hope you will peek at them!! Together my husband and I have raised three amazing sons who now are busy beginning families of their own. To date I only have one grandson but he is such a joy! My husband, miniature dachshund Rubee, and I love being on the water, boating and walking outside. So if you see sunglasses you know where we are!! Together we spend time at our lake house in Michigan and our winter home in Florida. We are creating so many wonderful memories.
