Jump into Missing Numbers in Equations

March 16, 2026 No Comments

Understanding missing numbers in equations can be a tricky concept for many students. This froggy-themed resource provides fun, engaging practice with hands-on tools, center activities, and printable pages designed to support developing math skills.

In this center, students are given a problem and use counters or a number line to help solve it. After finding the missing number, they place the frog with that number into the pond, adding a playful, visual element to the activity. Addition and subtraction are available for practice.

In this center, students use frog spinners to create a problem. They spin once and again to generate numbers, write the equation, and determine the missing number that completes it. There are addition and subtraction work.

Pages are included for students to write their equations making accountability available. This resource is a perfect addition to math centers, small-group instruction, or independent practice.

I’m Michele a retired educator who loved every minute of being in the classroom and creating an environment where students loved coming and materials were presented that inspired learning. After retirement 5 years ago I knew I wanted to stay connected to the classroom and education. I began pulling my materials together and creating resources for TpT. I hope you will peek at them!! Together my husband and I have raised three amazing sons who now are busy beginning families of their own. To date I only have one grandson but he is such a joy! My husband, miniature dachshund Rubee, and I love being on the water, boating and walking outside. So if you see sunglasses you know where we are!! Together we spend time at our lake house in Michigan and our winter home in Florida. We are creating so many wonderful memories.
