Hip Hop April Phonics with a Frog Theme (Final Y as long E and I)

March 16, 2026 No Comments

Lots of reinforcement for Final Y! This fun and vibrant resource is perfect for teaching and practicing Final Y when it makes the Long E or Long I sound.

Large colorful posters for display. I like to use the clear plastic picture frames with self for placing in the center.

By using these frames posters can be changed in and out as needed.

It includes colorful vocabulary cards with clear pictures to help students connect words with visuals—perfect for posting on a word wall or using in activities like ABC order.

Engaging center activities give students hands-on practice. Children will sort words and pictures into two sorting ponds based on their sound and complete a word-to-picture matching activity for additional reinforcement.

For independent practice, students can complete cut-and-paste sorting pages as well as “say and write” sheets to help build confidence, accuracy, and fluency with Final Y words.

This resource makes phonics practice fun, interactive, and easy to use in literacy centers or small-group instruction.

I’m Michele a retired educator who loved every minute of being in the classroom and creating an environment where students loved coming and materials were presented that inspired learning. After retirement 5 years ago I knew I wanted to stay connected to the classroom and education. I began pulling my materials together and creating resources for TpT. I hope you will peek at them!! Together my husband and I have raised three amazing sons who now are busy beginning families of their own. To date I only have one grandson but he is such a joy! My husband, miniature dachshund Rubee, and I love being on the water, boating and walking outside. So if you see sunglasses you know where we are!! Together we spend time at our lake house in Michigan and our winter home in Florida. We are creating so many wonderful memories.
