Election Day is a wonderful opportunity to teach young learners about making choices, respecting different opinions, and understanding why every vote matters!
My newly updated Election Day Resource is packed with engaging, cross-curricular activities designed for kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. Students will learn about elections while practicing important literacy, writing, math, and social studies skills.

Let’s Learn About Elections!
Begin with morning openers that encourage students to share what they already know about voting. Introduce important election vocabulary, explore informational anchor charts, and read the Election Day mini reader together.
Students can practice comprehension, sequencing, word work, and writing while discovering how elections work and what makes a good voter.
Let’s Have a Classroom Election!
One of my favorite parts of this resource is giving students the opportunity to experience voting firsthand!
Students can cast ballots for their favorite lunch, sport, or pet using the included voting materials. After the votes are counted, students graph the results, compare data, and discuss the outcome.
It’s a fun way to bring math and social studies together!
Every Vote Matters!
Beyond learning about elections, students discover the importance of making thoughtful decisions, sharing opinions, and respecting the choices of others.
With differentiated activities and flexible teaching suggestions, this resource makes it easy to plan a meaningful Election Day experience that fits your classroom.
Make Election Day memorable with hands-on voting, literacy, writing, and math activities your students will love!
Happy Election Day!
