As I sit here looking out my window at the rain I am reminded of the age old saying “April Showers Bring May Flowers”. Welcome April! April reminds me of life so you will find many of the resources focusing on living things. Below we will take a look at some of my favorite resources for teaching during the month of April. I am sharing bundles as often as I can so you can SAVE 20% all year long. Also if you click on the cover you will find a listing of each individual resource.

April has some exciting events. One of my favorites is April Fools’ Day. Such a terrific day for giggles and grins. And I bet you didn’t know that April 21st is Kite Day followed by April 22nd and Earth Day. One of my favorite new items is the Special Events Flip Book. It is simple to make, interactive and provides an opportunity to recall important details about each event. Finally on April 8th there is a very special Solar Eclipse. This resource is filled with valuable informative text and activities to learn what a solar eclipse is. Each resource is filled with activities for cross curricular teaching!

The April Reading Bundle includes a resource for comprehension, phonics, word searches and mini readers. Each resource focuses on the month of April. I also added Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to this.
The April Writing Bundle has 4 guided writing lessons, a resource for showcasing student writing with page topper crafts, a How to (this month about caring for the planet earth), and graphic organizers to encourage early writers with a Spring Break theme.
April Math is not a bundle but you will love this “froggy themed” resource on missing numbers.

These three resources are monthly MUSTS for me. April calendar is perfect for daily calendar math. I also love doing a poem a week with students that they read, recite and have fun with. April Math and Literacy activities are perfect for parent helpers, centers, one to one or group review and reinforcement and they all have an April theme.

The Units of Study for April focus on Living Things . . . Animals, Insects and Plants. Eric Carle is the featured author for the guided reading portion of the animal and insect units. For plants there is a delightful story When Grandma Gives You a Lemon Tree...perfect for a lemonade day. All activities are cross curricular and focus on building vocabulary, knowledge of the subject using informational text, word work, writing and of course literature to support the theme.
Take the pressure off of YOU and pick up these delightful resources to inspire and build academic growth with each student in your class.
