Rules and Safety Themed Week

Heading back to school means preparing lessons and activities to teach and review Rules and Safety with your class! In my classroom I like to use literature to engage students. The literature pieces can be used during Guided Reading and the theme, Rules and Safety, embedded in the lessons!! You will love the time it saves and how doing this brings the theme to life. Each Book Companion has a craft, games, writing, vocabulary focused on setting and characters as well as word work, comprehension, posters and activities for problem solving and more.

Decibella and Her 6 Inch Voice focuses on Voice Levels and the appropriate time to use them. Take a peek!

The Recess Queen focuses on being a friend and safe and appropriate behavior at recess. Take a peek!

David Goes to School is ideal for talking about classroom rules. Take it a step further and you can discuss what happens if you break a rule. Take a peek!

Officer Buckle and Gloria is also perfect for Class Rules. Your class will love his buddy Gloria.

As you look through each of these Book Companions you will see the opportunity to talk about characters and their personalities, the setting (school and playground)and comprehension activities that focus on story retell as well as the theme of Rules and Safety. You will find you class working with words and writing using the theme. I think you will also love the posters for sharing as well as the crafts. Perfect for those Back To School bulletin boards and hallways. All in all fun filled Guided Reading lessons with Rules and Safety embedded in them.

If you BUNDLE UP and SAVE you will find a perfect resource for enriching your focus on Rules and Safety. I think you will love the mini books.

Finally let’s talk about a FREEBIE! What if Everybody Did That? by Ellen Javernick is perfect for a few giggles but in reality a look at why following rules are important!

I’m Michele a retired educator who loved every minute of being in the classroom and creating an environment where students loved coming and materials were presented that inspired learning. After retirement 5 years ago I knew I wanted to stay connected to the classroom and education. I began pulling my materials together and creating resources for TpT. I hope you will peek at them!! Together my husband and I have raised three amazing sons who now are busy beginning families of their own. To date I only have one grandson but he is such a joy! My husband, miniature dachshund Rubee, and I love being on the water, boating and walking outside. So if you see sunglasses you know where we are!! Together we spend time at our lake house in Michigan and our winter home in Florida. We are creating so many wonderful memories.
