For today I want to use this wonderful resource to show how you can review skills, practice strategies and promote thinking using a literature story. When all of these are put together students will develop a strong understanding of what is being taught.

This resource has many strategies that build strong comprehension. In looking at the activities you will see that they ask questions that promote the student using critical thinking vs a right or wrong answer to the question. Skills reviewed are ABC order to the second letter and making words from the letters in touchdown. This story is wonderful and is perfect when talking about kindness and believing in ourselves. I also love the author. Check these out: David Catrow Author/Illustrator

Completing these types of activities develop a deeper understanding while developing strategies and skills. For those students unable to complete these independently complete them in small groups asking key questions while they discover their answer.

The resource is perfect for back to school, All About Me, family, kindness or rules and behavior. Using literature to teach themes allows students to relate text to self.

I’m Michele a retired educator who loved every minute of being in the classroom and creating an environment where students loved coming and materials were presented that inspired learning. After retirement 5 years ago I knew I wanted to stay connected to the classroom and education. I began pulling my materials together and creating resources for TpT. I hope you will peek at them!! Together my husband and I have raised three amazing sons who now are busy beginning families of their own. To date I only have one grandson but he is such a joy! My husband, miniature dachshund Rubee, and I love being on the water, boating and walking outside. So if you see sunglasses you know where we are!! Together we spend time at our lake house in Michigan and our winter home in Florida. We are creating so many wonderful memories.
