LOADS of Fall Fun with Apples, Pumpkins and Turkeys!

September 12, 2026 No Comments

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year in the classroom!

Apples, pumpkins, and turkeys give us so many natural opportunities to bring seasonal fun into reading, writing, vocabulary, science, math, and more.

But teachers don’t always need another big unit to squeeze into an already busy schedule.

Sometimes you just need LOTS of good activities—and the flexibility to choose the ones that work for your students.

That’s exactly why I created my LOADS of Apple Fun, LOADS of Pumpkin Fun, and LOADS of Turkey Fun resources!

These collections are packed with activities that can be used throughout the fall. Teachers can choose a few activities for a special day, add them to centers, use them for seasonal skill practice, or mix and match activities over several days.

LOADS of Apple Fun

Apple season is such a wonderful way to kick off fall learning!

Students can build apple vocabulary, practice literacy skills, investigate real apples, write about apples, enjoy poetry, and strengthen math skills—all while learning about a familiar fall favorite.

One of my favorite parts is the hands-on apple investigation. Give each child an apple and suddenly you’re combining science, math, observation, prediction, measurement, and lots of great classroom conversation.

Add red, yellow, and green apples and you have even more opportunities to compare, describe, sort, and discuss!

The resource also includes plenty of vocabulary and word work, with opportunities to practice skills such as ABC order, parts of speech, word recognition, and making words.

And because I always love connecting literacy across the day, you’ll also find poetry, writing, crafts, and partner math games that can be used during centers, small groups, or whole-class learning.

The goal is simple:

Pick what you need and make it work for YOUR class!

LOADS of Pumpkin Fun

Once October arrives, it’s time for pumpkins!

Pumpkins are perfect for combining seasonal excitement with meaningful learning.

Students can explore pumpkin vocabulary and informational concepts while practicing important reading, writing, math, and science skills.

Use the activities as part of a pumpkin study, add them to your literacy and math centers, or choose a few favorites for a special pumpkin-themed day.

There are so many ways to extend the learning, too.

Bring in real pumpkins for observation and investigation. Compare sizes. Count seeds. Describe the outside and inside. Talk about the pumpkin life cycle. Read favorite pumpkin books and connect them to writing and vocabulary activities.

A pumpkin theme makes it easy to turn ordinary skill practice into something children are excited to do!

LOADS of Turkey Fun

As Thanksgiving gets closer, bring on the turkeys!

LOADS of Turkey Fun gives teachers another flexible collection of seasonal activities for literacy, math, writing, and more.

Students can begin with a fun turkey poll and graphing activity, then move into turkey vocabulary and word work.

There are opportunities to practice skills such as ABC order, syllables, parts of speech, word recognition, making words, reading comprehension, poetry, and writing.

Turkey-themed math activities can be added to centers or partner work, while crafts and writing activities give students a chance to create something special to display.

And because November can be an especially busy month, you don’t have to use everything!

Choose the activities that reinforce the skills your students are already learning.

❤️ One Theme—So Many Learning Opportunities!

What I love most about these resources is the flexibility.

They aren’t designed to tell you:

Day 1, do this. Day 2, do this. Day 3, do this.

Instead, they’re filled with activities you can pull from to meet the needs of your students, your curriculum, and your schedule.

You might use the vocabulary during your literacy block.

Put a partner game in your math center.

Use a poem for fluency practice.

Complete an investigation during science.

Choose a writing activity for Writer’s Workshop.

Add a craft to create a seasonal hallway display.

Or plan an entire apple, pumpkin, or turkey day!

You choose what works for you.

Take the Learning Through Fall!

I especially love using these three themes as the seasons change.

Start with apples as fall begins.

Move into pumpkins as October arrives.

Then finish with turkeys as Thanksgiving approaches.

The themes change, but students continue practicing many of the same important K–2 skills.

That makes seasonal learning fun for children while still keeping the focus on meaningful classroom instruction.

Make Fall Learning FUN!

Fall is busy enough.

Seasonal activities should make teaching easier—not give you another complicated program to follow!

That’s the idea behind my LOADS of Fun resources: lots of choices, lots of learning, and lots of opportunities to make fall a little more memorable for your students.

LOADS of Apple Fun
LOADS of Pumpkin Fun
LOADS of Turkey Fun

Use one, use all three, or simply pull out the activities you need when you need them.

Because sometimes the best resource isn’t one that tells you exactly what to do.

It’s one that gives you LOADS of possibilities! ❤️

I’m Michele a retired educator who loved every minute of being in the classroom and creating an environment where students loved coming and materials were presented that inspired learning. After retirement 5 years ago I knew I wanted to stay connected to the classroom and education. I began pulling my materials together and creating resources for TpT. I hope you will peek at them!! Together my husband and I have raised three amazing sons who now are busy beginning families of their own. To date I only have one grandson but he is such a joy! My husband, miniature dachshund Rubee, and I love being on the water, boating and walking outside. So if you see sunglasses you know where we are!! Together we spend time at our lake house in Michigan and our winter home in Florida. We are creating so many wonderful memories.
