The resource begins with an invitation and a note for parents the share about the day and ask them to help donate an item to celebrate the day. There is also a craft for “This Year Was Sweet” and a little book for writing as well as making a top 10 list of activities for the year.
Next students will explore the life cycle of a lemon and learn about a lemon. There are activities for centers, informational text and sequencing activities. Explorations and suggestions are provided as well as activities for making lemonade from actual lemons.
Word work is also included as well as center activities for Adjectives, Making Words and ABC Order. Other word work activities include a Word Search, Syllables and Parts of Speech. All word wok is related to lemons and lemonades. There are 12 brightly colored vocabulary cards for posting with pictures.
I chose three of my favorite books for sharing about lemons and lemonade with your class. (Froggy’s Lemonade Stand, When Grandma Brings a Lemon Tree and a wonderful poem about Lemonade in the Shade. ) Each suggestion is followed by activities for the Students.
The Lemonade Stand is all about math and engages students in two center activities with How Many Glasses Sold for Graphing, How Much Money was Made and 4 Glasses to a pitcher…how many pitchers did you make. You will also find three games for odd/even, addition and subtraction practice.
Writing Activities include writing a How To Story, writing about the life cycle in sequence and a descriptive story about lemons.
